Many of us remember well these older players.Our memories of them are of young athletic players.I never thought I would be the age I am now with more or less the same mind as I did in days so long gone.

Sir Bobby Charlton. 86. RIP. The coroner has reported today that he was in a care home due to dementia and needed full time care to undertake daily tasks. Apparently he stood up out of his chair, fell hit the window sill and possibly a radiator. Later the paramedics were called due to swelling and the upshot was he was put on end of life care dying 5 days later. Another footballer with dementia. So sad, a true legend of the game who carried himself explemplary through his life. |

Rather belated but nonetheless sad news that Mike Pinner died back in May aged 89. Older forum members may recall Mike as the O’s goalkeeper for our season in the First Division in 62/63. If I remember rightly Mike was a Solicitor and had been an amateur international at several clubs but turned pro in order to play full time for the O’s. x.com/ronhudson33/status/1705325405190623541?s=20 |
