On a sad personal note my uncle Arthur who everyone in our family thought was 95 years old as that's what he told everyone and who i had the pleasure of escorting to Normandy earlier this year passed away peacefully in his sleep last night at the grand old age of 98.He told me that he felt guilty for leaving his pals behind in France and now he can finally be reunited with them.He was a modest and gentle man god bless him. RIP Arthur. Your service will not be forgotten, for it was people like you who give us our freedom today. Mujtahido, When my Nan passed away aged 94 she loved being in the Army and having fought through the Second World War on the artillery guns someone said that her unit could represent her at the funeral. So I spoke to them and they sent a flag bearer who led the precession. Everyone said it was a nice touch. That might be something for you to consider? One thing I know is they deserve it.

I know there are a few guitarists on here, but did you know that the Fender Stratocaster is celebrating its 70th birthday?

I know there are a few guitarists on here, but did you know that the Fender Stratocaster is celebrating its 70th birthday? I've always been a Tele fan but Strats are good too. Both are an example of getting pretty much everything right the first time.

I pluck and strum uselessly away on I don't know what. What I do like though is some of the easier chords and that felling in the body whilst playing the acoustic or classical guitar.

Happy 39th birthday to former Os midfielder Romain Vincelot 🎂. What sticks in my mind about Romain was during the 2014 Play-off final game at Wembley. It was around the 85th minute and every single player out there was shattered. We were pushing for a winner and the the opposition lobbed a ball into their channel. No one had the energy to run back but I saw Romain look around, realised no one was there, dropped his head for a second, took a big breath and ran as hard as he could to challenge for that ball. He had no puff left but made it. It wasn't even his position to chase that down but he seemed to be determined not to let the opposition have it.

Sad to report the death of Trevor Whymark aged 74. A very good striker for Ipswich Town, Colchester United and Southend over many seasons. RIP Trevor.

IIRC he went into the pub where all the Orient supporters were after the game and apologized and (I may be wrong here) bought a round

Nigel always got into very friendly chats with the centre forwards he was marking Was it to throw them off their game mentally. But he had humour. Never a great passer,he once in about 1980 hit a wonder pass from mid defence inch perfect to Roffey on the flank to loud ironic cheers in the main stand. He looked at us and punched the air smiling!
