Peter wall was a loan replacement for Bobby Arber who was to be our Rofe replacement himself, but suffered a bad leg injury. When wall returned to palace,Downing was played at left back, and made the position his own.

For a quick second I thought that was going to say peter Wells I had a double check when I first read it too. I have never heard of the player that was mentioned, sad nether the less as I wasn’t even going to football when he played for us.

He was a coach working at the top level being paid maybe 7 figures, whose contract will be paid up in full upon his sacking. He is not worried about paying his gas bill. Inevitably they go on to secure another job fairly quickly again on big money.
