Surprised I was able to connect, clever me.That was peterofslas in mystic form.Hence the comeback MungO. We looked typical league two,but credit the draw. Typical league 2 is not too bad a description. Nor is 4 wins and a draw in 5. in a results driven game almost as good as you get. But results are covering over the cracks. Nice, for now. Not complaining. My concern is we are riding our luck and we can’t rely on come backs and last minute goals every week nor DJ form continuing. And I don’t see too many signs of a team particularly gelling into a slick outfit. In reality we are a rag bag of a team who frequently fail to string together consistent good play. Just bits here and there like some of the stuff against Plymouth. But we keep going and get the breaks. Won’t happen forever. Our L2 performances have been dire. Despite our squad depth I don’t see anything to suggest we have what it takes to be top 7. Far too weak in defence. No fluidity in our play. Needs to get sorted and quick. Confidence must be sky high so we need to push on.

Just watched the goals again the defending for the second was dreadful. Ling is miles out of position Happe sees Cook to his left then totally ignores his run and leaves him to tap in.

Good to see another fightback, but we need to stop conceding so easily. Ling at fault again too. I gonna stick up for Ling here because he does play in a position where it's quite often a pressure situation to get the ball clear, not doing it perfectly is more noticeable, IMO. Ling's pros and cons anyone?

We are going to get this every time we concede a goal I'm afraid. If the back four is reasonably settled they are always going to be in the pictures when a goal is conceded so the vultures will always be able to point a finger at whoever they have it in for at the time. I remember a couple of years ago it was always Craig Clays fault or Charlie Lee for not providing enough defensive midfield cover every time we conceded. The experts seem to have moved on from that but as soon as they get the defenders they want every time we concede you can be sure it will somebody else's fault. The whole thing is frankly pathetic. I won't be commenting any more on the subject (relief all round!)

Confidence must be sky high so we need to push on. Whilst I agree that there's definitely been an element of luck gone for us so far in our games, I think you're being a little harsh. As they say, you can only beat what is in front of you and so far we have. Again I agree that I don't see too much coming together and now we're six games in and we could probably all argue for different players in different positions and for different formations. I mentioned previously that I can't remember a squad that have rotated their squad to success in the league. As far as I can remember the teams that win the league have a nailed down 11 and it very rarely changes much. I also think that's why there isn't much enthusiasm for this bunch. Usually we all have a player that we love to see and will support and defend until we're blue in the face. But this bunch because they're in and out each game I can't seem to gee myself up about it and it feels like a total reset every game we play. I'm probably blathering on and nobody gets what I'm saying.

I think that some of the criticism/observations on this thread are a little harsh.
We are defending like a typical mid-table league 2 team. So in that respect, we are performing to expectations. I doubt whether any of the managers of the L2 teams that we have played so far (FGR, Oldham, Mansfield) will have been happy with ANY of the goals that they have conceded to us.
Yes we should aspire to defend like a L1 team (or top 3 L2 team) but it is a bit harsh to criticise us for not being at that level in our first two league games. It's clear that the club see the need to improve defensively, hence Danny Senda's appointment.

Ling's pros and cons anyone? My view is that he too regularly gets caught out of position (too high up the pitch) and that these incidents then mar what would otherwise be a very good performance. But there is no reason why this can't be addressed with good coaching and with experience. He is very good in the air, especially considering his height

A poor performance but let's take the illness excuse and move on. We never gripped the midfield and looked poor at the back. No way they should have let us back in the game - if they hadn't started piddling around in the corners with ten minutes to go they would have gone on to win it 3 or 4-0. Gutted not to have been in my seat behind the South Stand goal for those two O's goals - place would have been rocking. With hindsight, that was a good point for a team with Coronavirus.
