Fulham's gable is on the half way line, for me ours looks better.

Full marks to the Management for forking out for this added expense, which frankly is a pain in the arris, not least at this point in time. Indeed. I guess there's a great deal of trust between them and Barry Hearn/Matchroom pension fund over this. Rare these days l'd say. I guess Matt Porter is involved somewhere.

The gable was once in the middle. I’m old enough to remember it before the extension was built. It has annoyed me ever since. I find it irritating rather that a quaint piece of history. Move it or remove it.

Thanks MaylandOs and vinnyh. I remember there were previous reports of asbestos when Barry Hearn wanted to repair/ improve/develop the East Stand, but cost prohibited.

The stand was always slightly shifted towards the north end so the middle of it, pre-extension, was never over the half way line.

The words Leyton and Orient have the same number of letters, yet they are spaced differently on the gable.I know they were not fixed at the same time, but they do look odd.Adds to the quaintness of football stadiums. I know I am in a minority but I much prefer us to be known as ORIENT.

Move it or remove it. Cannot agree more. It is neither charming nor nostalgic. Maybe we both have OCD though - the non-symmetry does my head in.

good stuff wasnt the roof bit for rent to advertisers as it was on the flight path? may be more than a lick of paint maybe it is me but if the roof is being replaced can the gable be moved in line with the half way line? would look much better imo

Good to see that the club have acknowledged that the East Stand is long overdue a touch up.
Another progressive move from our forward-thinking administration.

I'd say the East Stand is the stand I've used the least over my 39 years of supporting.
I can't remember ever consistently going in there. In the 80's and probably early 90's I think the only reason we went in there was because the West was full.
But other than that it was mainly the West Stand before they knocked it down or the North Terrace going a bit further back. And then more recently the South Stand since it was built and now the North with the kids.

I have been all over the stadium except the balcony and directors box in the West Stand.Started on the south terracing leaning on the wall or maybe it was a fence next to the pitch.

Have not heard from you for a time Blip. You was the one who welcomed me when I joined this forum. I have heard many things about the East Stand I remember when it was only part of the length it is now and had glass windows at one or both of the ends. I had a season ticket in the East stand terrace the East stand enclosure for a few years, I loved watchingthe games from there and it was a decent atmosphere, was gutted when Bazza put the seats in so I got a season ticket for the North Terrace and then subsequently when the new North Stand was built moved to the South Stand.

Didn't the sun in your eyes drive you mad sitting in the East?

Might be better to spend some money on the team rather than the East Stand after today...
But I can't get over the fact that I've just spotted myself in the South Terrace in the footage of the Bury match
