Baseball now, how many countries play that to a high level? Japan really want those extra medals don't they, I spose I can't blame them. They'll be snail and frog eating in the next Olympics. Baseball is big in Japan or at least it was back in the late 1990's when I lived there for a short period.

Yeah I know, I've known that for years but I think most people thought it's just an American thing.
My dad told me years ago that they used to play it in Victoria Park, I think it was. I'm guessing it might of been the Americans during or after WW2.
We went through a period of playing softball in secondary school and the best looking girl in my class got her nose broken after getting smooshed in the face by the ball. Strike One!

The first (and possibly only) medal of the night until the cycling and athletics relay is a Bronze in the hockey.

We finish with 65 medals, 22 Gold, 21 Silver and 22 Bronze.
29 Golds in London and 27 in Rio.

Considering our population compared to those above us and the one below (the druggy one) in the medals table we really do punch above our weight. The Ozzies do too.
I'm really glad the US pipped China for most golds on the last day.
It's been great, it's always great.
Paralympics starts on the 24th of August, also great.
Five months after that, the Winter Olympics, great again.
It's all go, innit.
