A couple of things.
The fact that Vigs might be out of the country and somehow out of phone/email range from his agent does not prevent him from allowing his offer to lapse. And in a recent interview Vigs said he felt he had stayed at Swindon too long- he was there for four years and has been at Orient for three and a half.
So Vigs is a flight risk, although I will continue to keep my fingers crossed.

Was it Harry who kneed Halom in the groin as he was about to take a throw in.Harry got sent off but he did look unwell. Dont recall that but take your word for it that it happened, so I guess that would have been in season 1967-68 when Halom was playing for the Os and Gregory was playing for Charlton ?

Orient are losing approx £1.5m every year, which is covered by the directors. As much as I wanted Vigs to stay I can't blame the club for not offering him a better contract than he has refused. If we pay players now what we can't afford this only creates massive financial problems in the years ahead. Makes you wonder how Luton climbed the leagues on smallish gates / limited budgets.

If he leaves for charlton he's left a club on the up for one that's going nowhere.Charton might have new owners soon but that guarantees nothing and RW is a much better manager than Holden at charlton still money talks in football

And at a guess will probably finish higher than us next season. Can see the sense too, won’t need to uproot his family. If he goes I’ll be happy to see him next season. Did well for us.

I know for a fact their forward Chuks Aneke is on £9k a week. The difference in pay is massive.

Just working out what I'd do with 9k a week. Cup of tea first, priorities.

I was looking earlier 2day, a 13 ft wide stern mooring at Wroxham: offers above 50 grand. I'd buy that for a start. Free parking, I think.
I'd pitch a tent on it and in a couple of months I'd buy a boat. I'd also pay for someone to empty the poo cassette.
Short story: About 7 or 8 years ago on a narrowboat in Rugby it was my job to fill the water tank. I went all the way around the boat and all I could find was one hole, but it didn't have a cap on it. I thought that's a bit strange but seeing as it was the only hole on the outside of the boat I put the hose pipe in and turned on the tap. A little while later I heard STOP! STOP! I'd filled up the poo tank and it overflowed the toilet and then brown stuff started coming out of the pipe. I found out later that it was the poo tank breather pipe. The water filler was under the hatch. Cost us about £35 for a pump out. I felt like a bit of a dick head.
Whenever we go on holiday on a boat something always happens. Like waking up and wondering why that coke in a glass is at a 45 degree angle. You can guess that one. Clue: We moored near Yarmouth.

Vigs to Charlton, not that bothered really. If they've got a narrower pitch to us, they're in trouble. If it's wider he could be a good signing.

It seems it is going to occur based on Thor posts.
He is a very good goalie but lofc have the playing level now to attract another competent goalie.
Ignoring Charlton ground capacity and their average home attendance last season which was larger than orients, there is no reason why orient cannot compete with them on the football pitch and finish in a similar position.

Orient will recover in terms of a replacement. Take Morris he was deemed not good enough at Orient ages ago but look at what he has achieved at Crawley and Gillingham and he is now a veteran.
Some goalkeepers out there available to be signed will be in the same category ie deemed not good enough at their existing club but actually in a new environment flourish.
Since 1960 I have seen loads of goalies at orient and the club still functions - whoever is there.

Another “ not good enough” ‘keeper who has had a decent career since leaving the O’s is Jamie Jones. Vigoroux is good but certainly not irreplaceable.

As l understand it, a group called South-East Partners have just purchased CAFC so maybe Vigouroux is their statement of intent regarding how much money they have and their willingness to spend it. It also may be the reason that Vigs sees a brighter future at the Valley than is available at Brisbane Road.

I remember somewhere from the back of my brain that in the long past before the new stands Brisbane Road held the record for the widest pitch and the largest communal bath in league football. The Orient pitch is currently 80 yards wide whilst Charltons is only 73 yards wide.

Still optimistic he stays. But if he leaves for Charlton then good luck to Lawrence.
Pros: Bigger club Bigger attendances Geographically good for him and his family Probably guaranteed first team football Likely to pay higher wages
Cons: Current ownership issues aren't clear (link at the bottom, worth a listen) Previous ownership issues have meant the club is insecure A step into the unknown in regards manager, players, ownership No longer protecting a goal that had the best defence in the league surrounding it
As for wages, I usually go on Football Manager stats which usually have a 10% margin of error.
Chuks Aneke is on £6k a week and he was a marquee signing. It wouldn't surprise me if Lawrence was offered around the £5-6k mark at Charlton. If he has been offered more than that he should take it.
Charlton's average salary last year for first team footballers was about £4.2k a week.
Our average salary last year for first team footballers was about £2.2k a week. Lawrence is paid around the £3k a week mark at Orient.
Could we get to Charlton's average? I'm not sure. It's a 33% pay rise. To get to the £5-6k mark that's effectively doubling his wages and I don't think we could or should go to that level. Not in our first season back on League One.
