We lost the under-18s girls match yesterday due to the cold despite the game being played on an "all-weather" synthetic surface. Frankly, I don't know what I'm talking about so I guess the cold still applies? The senior women's game is due to kick off at 2pm in Buckhurst Hill but yesterday it was white with frost and under a blanket of fog. No news yet but will update as soon as I know.

I guess the crumb had frozen hence why it was called off.

90 minutes to kick off so, in the absence of news to the contrary, it looks like it's game ON at the Myrak ground in Buckhurst Hill for Leyton Orient Women Vs Regents Park.

The game today against Regent's Park was abandoned very close to full time. The O's ladies were leading 4-3. I have no idea what the problem was.

Monday night update...The cause of Sunday's match to be abandoned was the time needed to give medical attention to a player after which the light had gone. 2023 hasn't been kind to the club when it comes to abandoned games. Tonight's update looks at the other results in the GLFL Premiership and has links to the current league table. It's looking good but we're building up a backlog of games. As far as the 85 minutes of the match is concerned, there was something of a Jekyll and Hyde element to it, being 4-1 up and then letting Rangers get back to 4:3 in the 85th minute and requiring Lola Duroyaiye to save the day more than once. Maybe some big names missing from the team played a role in allowing the bottom club to threaten so strongly? Shame about the U18s missing out but sub-zero temperatures on an artificial surface means it is no place to play football. Our girls' under eighteen squad are enjoying a successful first year with two wins from two of a weather interrupted season. This Saturday, they're off to Brighton to play in the "Warriors" section of the national Junior Premier League (JPL). To give you an idea of what's going on... The JPL is a considerable organisation aimed at mirroring the best of the world-wide centres of excellence (there are plenty of alternative names) so that the UK does not not get left behind in the production of the best players possible. The resources being spent by the national organisation , the FA and, in this case, Leyton Orient is massive. It reminds me of what cycling did before the London 2021 Olympics. If you're into this kind of stuff, there's more info at lofcwomen.com/items/231207.html

Two updates now posted on LOFCWOMEN.COMOne looks at a midweek training session for the senior team, the other is a match preview for Sunday's game away at Headstone Manor. This is the return GLWFL league game, the Stones being to only team to have defeated us this season. We owe them one! All smiles as Headstone just hit the winner against us in September

More frustration for the under-18 girls as yesterday's trip to Brighton was called off - that's two postponements in two weeks! Frustrating or wot! Today is matchday for the Premier league women who travel to Harrow to face Headstone Manor in an important league game. I promised those folks that I won't keep on about Headstone being the only club to beat us this season and that it remains their only win .... so I won't mention that. All the latest plus live text updates available at lofcwomen.com/live - the update page will reload itself automatically every few minutes during the game so you won't need to press "refresh". Hi tech eh?

As you were, the pitch has been deemed unplayable, the match will have to be played at a later date.
Not really our weekend is it!

No game this weekend for either of our women's teams but the Greater London WFL premiership did see three results. Comets keep winning but Tooting Bec slip up. Results, table and analysis at lofcwomen.com/items/231211.htmlArsenal played Chelsea in the WSL yesterday. Over 59,000 showed up.

Always mindful of applying pressure to the players but, the truth is, Sunday's match against Comets is massive. Click the link to lofcwomen.com/items/231214.html to see the facts and figures in the context of the Orient women's recent meteoric rise. West London based Comets were the pre-season favourites to win the Premier league and are showing signs they may just achieve that. However, so are we, despite being the new kids on the block. There are others who look just as capable too, notably Tooting Bec and Richmond. Let's hope the weather allows the game to go ahead, I'm going to call it "clash of the Titans". As things stand, this is a very big game. Comets (blue) beat Islington 3-2 last week, maybe we can do better.

MATCH DAY
Orient's Under-18 girls' side travelled to West London to see off Kew Rangers in the JPL Warriors division yesterday (Sat 16th). Hear from their coach David Madell at lofcwomen.com/items/231217.html.The Premier league women also go to the west-side to face championship favourites COMETS in Fulham for today's (Sun 17th) big event. A lot is riding on that one, not least the losers will have about 4-5 weeks over the holiday period to stew over it. Check back in on the same page for live text updates as the match unfolds.
