The full game from Biggleswade is on YouTube - via a fan's shaky mobile phone. I don't recommend you watch much of it but towards the end (88th min) you'll see Liliana Almeida make a powerful and skilful winding run down the right ending with a half-Cruyff turn, she passes inside to Kirstie Jackson who controls the ball instantly and then puts the ball, via a back-heel, into the path of Shona Citate who thumps in the second goal from 20 yards .
It's getting there.

With a view to next Sunday's away league match at Camden Town WFC, lofcwomen.com has been in touch with the people over there and include a kind of "introducing Camden Town WFC" piece which includes a potted history, some recent results and a short recap on their heart-breaking exit in penalties from the National womens' FA Cup competition. We've scoured the social media sites as usual and can bring you some comments from various insiders after the O's ladies won 2:0 away last Sunday at higher league opponents Biggleswade. There's also a run-down of the results achieved by the other teams in our league as most were also playing in the FA Cup although there was one league game where Tooting Bec lost their 100% record against Hammersmith. Finally, now we know who we'll be playing in the next round of the FA Cup (Wroxham WFC - a Tier 5 club) there's some info about them too. Where will the game be played? Brisbane Road maybe? If anyone fancies a trip to Camden Town to support the women this Sunday then please take a photo device and make a few notes for us, we'll be dead chuffed to receive direct info from the game. Send anything you have to info@lofcwomen.com

October 8thCamden Town WFC vs Leyton Orient Women
Today sees the 4th league match of the Leyton Orient Women's 2023/24 Premier Division campaign in the Greater London Women's Football League (GLWFL). We will endeavour to bring you all the news, as soon as it happens, as we take on pointless (so far) Camden Town away, the kick off will be at 2pm. If you would like to go along to the match then your support will be much appreciated by all concerned, we would also like to press-gang you into service so that you can tell us of your thoughts about the match and perhaps even share a photo (or ten) with us. We invite you to be an active contributor to lofcwomen.com so let's hear from you on info@lofcwomen.com or via Whatsapp on +385913080531. Camden Town WFC play at the Wingate & Finchley FC ground, located on Summers lane, a short walk from West Finchley Northern Line station. There's a map link on the website. The game at Camden sees the end of a run of matches against teams in the lower half of the table. The next three league games are against Islington Borough (P3 W2 D1 L0), Hammersmith (P4 W2 D1 L1) and Comets (P3 W3) so, judging by their results, things are going to get a fair bit tougher for our ladies over the next few weeks. There's also a FA Cup match against Wroxham on 22nd October, Wroxham play two leagues higher than we do. One thing is certain, when November comes around, we'll know much more about where we stand in the greater football scheme of things. More news later today as we get it....

Islington Borough Ladies - a closer look
We are indebted to Pete Samways and Mike MacNeill of Islington Borough Ladies Football Club (IBLFC) for passing on some interesting stuff about Sunday's premier league opponents. Islington Borough is a women only football club, there is no men's team. We asked Pete Samways, their football development person, about how the season has been going for the first team and for the other sides they operate at IBLFC. We learned they have their first team (who we'll meet on Sunday) which is aimed at providing a vehicle for the dedicated players and coaches who require an intensely competitive element to their sport, plus there are numerous other groups of various age profiles and each with differing emphasis on the social/competitive balance. Indeed, they have around 300 registered women who make up the playing staff across the organisation. Pete tells us that IBWFC use twenty five football coaches across their various teams and thus justifies his statement "we are a big club". There's some interesting stuff today over at lofcwomen.com

Kick-off is at 2pm, entrance is free, there is covered viewing, a stocked clubhouse and ample parking - So get yourself along to the ground, support our ladies and have an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. A vital three league points are up for grabs today, and very important they are too if the Orient Women are to maintain the pressure on Comets and Tooting Bec, the only teams above them in the premier league. Recent results show that performance momentum is with the O's team, they have lost just once this season and have won the other five games. If you do go, please help out the ladies' team by letting us know about your experience at the ground, how you saw the game unfold and send us any photos you have from your attendance. You know what fisch, my daughter sent a WhatsApp the other day of the message the club sent out saying the up coming game is at Brisbane road and is free, she said and I quote “that’s out of order” I replied “why” and she said “it’s still a game of football and it should be charged” I did say that they are trying to build the woman's supporter base and by offering it free they are hoping to encourage more people to support the team.
Let’s hope that’s the case.

I believe the big view is one of development based on on-field success. Today's opponents are the exact opposite, their focus is on personal development for women (they don't have a men's team). l understand that a successful women's team is seen as the best option to make effective use of the stadium, something which is proving elusive for Spurs but others do better. We're at tier 7 currently so the costs are limited, l think there are too many stadia around so weddings and parties are never going to be a realistic option.
