The next game comes up on Sunday, an away match at top-of-the-table team 'COMETS'. A lively bunch if ever there was. We've added a kind of intro to them at lofcwomen.com Comets have the meanest defence in the league - by a long way! There'll be no "dodgy keeper" freebies on offer from them. We'll have to earn anything we can take from the game. The match will be played at Barn Elms Sports Ground - just across the river from Fulham's Craven Cottage. As always, if you are going along, do get in touch and tell us your thoughts. We're always available on info@lofcwomen.com or on Whatsapp

Today brings a date with the table toppong 'COMETS' women's team. Comets have won five of their six league games so far having lost 1-0 at home to struggling Camden Town which, at the time, was something of a shock result. As said earlier, Comets have the best defensive record in the league by some margin so scoring against tem will be a challenge. The game goes ahead at Barn Elms sports centre, just across the Thames from Fulham's Craven Cottage, kick-off is as 2pm. A win for the Os today would probably define the coming season as a tight battle at the top with us as a major player, defeat will put us eight points away from the top spot and that's a lot of work to do to catch up. Team news and match dates to follow as we get them.... Hopefully everything will be available at lofcwomen.com If you get a " Sorry, but the new web hosting service has not directed you to the latest pages" it's OK, it's just me trying to get my service providers to listen to instructions... Grrr! It's safe to click on the link provided

GAME POSTPONED Waterlogged pitch. a lot of games have been called off today due to waterlogged pitches. Our club called them off early, although my team was OK as we were on the 4g in the 2nd round of the Kent cup, glad it went ahead as we played really well and won 10-0.

Plenty of work has been going on at lofcwomen.com by way of a software upgrade to ensure a better fit both mobiles and big screen TVs and everything in between. A fair bit of tidying up of the code has been started to make things simpler and quicker to load. Plenty still to do but it will be bit-by-bit for a while. We also now have our own YouTube channel, 'X' profile and Instagram, there are links to each them on the main "latest news" page. If it looks like nothing has changed, be sure to hit the ↻ refresh button to get the latest offerings. As the site does does not use cookies (no sign-up, no ads, no data saving) we can't do this automatically. The latest football postings refer to ACL injury, which is topical here at the Os at the moment, did you know the girls suffer them considerably more often? Read the available wisdom plus an update of Sunday's results in the Greater London Women's Football League (GLWFL) Premier division where our nearest competitors took advantage of our postponed match to skip past us up the table, there's also a link to the current table. Enjoy and please let us know if there are things we need to address. Cheers!

Here's a fairly recent and decent article covering off many different potential reasons without any real studies to support the claims in any depth. I did read an article on a medical journal website and 68k people were covered yet the study was less than 30 women! No way can a conclusion be drawn on such small numbers. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64032536The boots one makes sense to me, women's foot plates are smaller than a man's, yet the studs are the same length and distance apart so relatively speaking I can see that studs being trapped could be a real issue as the body turns.

I doubt it was just me so perhaps we can help by spreading a bit of awareness.

Apologies if you've had difficulties accessing the website, we've now secured our own hosting service at lofcwomen.com so we've had to copy 1,000s of files over from the old hosting service to our own server. That process was a lengthy job but we think we're 99% there now. Be sure to click on the ↻ 'Refresh' button on the website or on your browser to make sure you're getting the latest stuff. Sunday's game against top-of-the-table Tooting Bec is likely to be quite a test. The game is at the Myrak ground of Buckhurst Hill FC, kick off is at 2pm. Get along there if you can and maybe even give us some feedback from your point of view. More details about the game and the rest of the GLWFL programme is now on the website, just click HERE
From the photo, it's a dead cert that Tooting just scored!

It's video time!
Here's our early efforts to make a lofcwomen.com promo-video. Can anyone name the goal-scorer? We reckon it's Amelia Pearce but maybe you know better?
Here's Courtney Miller and Layla-May Duffield playing their part and representing the ladies in the community.

Just did a spot of research on Google's AI portal...
"Based on the available data, Arsenal Ladies Football Club (ALFC) get the bigger attendance than Boreham Wood Football Club (BWFC). Both teams play regular league games at Boreham Wood's ground.
According to the official website of the FA Women's Super League (FA WSL), the average attendance for ALFC during the 2022-23 season was 2,251. Meanwhile, the average attendance for BWFC during the 2022-23 season was 1,031. This means that ALFC gets an average of 1,220 more attendees per match than BWFC".
Let's call it double.
I'm not really making a point except to show that women's football is growing.

November 10th 2023
Unusually, we've not managed to make contact with our next opponents, London Academicals, who will visit our home ground at Buckhurst Hill this Sunday 12th November 2023. We have taken some info from their social media platforms but recent info is a bit thin on the ground. Never mind, that won't stop us having a go! Their season so far could best be described as 'mixed'. Having played 7, won 2, drawn 0, lost 5, with a GD of -7 and a total of 6 points puts them in 8th place of the ten-team premier league. Their two wins came from a 6-4 victory against bottom club Regent's Park Rangers and a notable 3:1 win against Islington Borough who drew with us 1:1 recently. So much for the form book! For some more about them, nip over to lofcwomen.com
