I used to enjoy reading the fanzines on Oracle, especially the rivalry between Southend and Orient.Roots Hall was called Rots Hole, can't remember what the Southend fanzine called Brisbane road. I believe the Southend fanzine was called Prawn Seasoning.

Nearly 5000 tickets sold to those making their way to Roots hall for a Friday game apparently against Eastleigh. More on the day (evening). Can’t knock the passion and dedication of their fan base.

But I do wish them all the best, great supporters, poor owner.

Lower league football is becoming much more popular these days.Had enough of the Prima Donnas I suppose. One of the many reasons I still follow non league football and enjoy it so much. So many of the small company I worked for played non league football at the highest levelMrs redshank had two in her company.

Gonna need it Dohnut as they've been docked 10 points and currently sit at minus 4.

Bad to worse for our friends at Roots Hall.
Already bottom after being docked 10 points, yesterday not enough players to fill the bench. They had three of the allowed 5 away at York. Then get two players sent off. Until then they were bossing the game at York until conceding a Worldie. Yet 680 fans travelled up North to support the team. What fantastic support. The agony of that game must have been horrendous. By all accounts the players and coaching staff and supporters are giving all they have for the club. Respect.
Only 12 players for Tuesdays game Vs Maidenhead. embargo means they cannot recruit. Court case review in 3 weeks and unless they have a buyer will be wound up.
Tough times. I wish them good luck. They deserve better.

The fans deserve better, but the owner is in effect destroying his own business or it would appear that's what he is doing.

He has to keep hold of the stadium, the club owes him to much money for all the work done trying wangle a new stadium, classic pikey, in a pikey club, in a pikey town. let them die good riddance to bad rubbish

He charges rent. He sets the rate. So one of his companies owes another of his companies money. Triple the rent, the club owes him 3 times as much. Yet he hasn’t spent a penny. But great when he wants to write-off debts that never really existed in the first place. Smart accounting going on. But he has of course put real money in too. Which he is trying to recoup with Fossets Farm. Comments about the club and their fan base are just not on. You should take a long hard look at yourself.

So sad that the National League deducts Southend of ten points because of these financial problems. No mercy for those who are struggling. Much the same treatment was given to Dover football club.

It’s tough on the wrong people. Not the coaches, players or fans fault the club cannot pay its tax bill, yet ultimately are the ones who suffer the most. But I can’t offer an alternative penalty. Removing the owners gonads, though more justified (and welcomed by some) is not going to happen. I assume the NL are limited on what they can actually do. And I’m sure it was an absolute last resort. I’m no lover of Southend United and still angered by some of their fans comments during our tough times, they were in league 1 then and a few morons were gloating at our demise. That said I know a few of their fans and they are decent, loyal supporters of a lower league club. Fans over many years. They deserve better. I hope they survive and one day returns to the EFL.

Scummend have had fantastic support throughout these last few years ,far better than we have ,so there is bound to be a few scallywags amongst them .

Of course and I am definitely not criticising their fans who are absolutely fantastic given what they are going through. 680 at York. What a brilliant turnout. Respect. Naive? Not at all. All clubs have their idiots and I been watching us for a long time and we have our fair share. A few frequent these forums. But my post was about the few morons at Southend who laughed at us. A small, stupid minority, all clubs have them. But still annoyed me. But my standards are somewhat higher. I’m a football fan and despite waning us to kick arse every game, I just hate to see any club going through what they are. I see it close too knowing long time Shrimpers season ticket holders and aware of what they are doing behind the scenes to help out all they can. Decent, loyal fans who deserve more.

In the words of Dale Arden in the 1980 movie Flash Gordon
“But Flash we only have 17 days left to save the club”
There have been absolutely no updates from Ron Marin, Southend Utd or the possible buyer Justin Rees. The last update the day after the last court appearance Martin changed the absolute pledge to sell to a hope it will be done in time pledge- and nothing since.
17 days is looking increasingly close !

All we’ve had is that a deal will be done by late September. Can only assume negotiations continue in secret. Not surprising that no news is forthcoming, they won’t want to negotiate in public or give a running commentary. Let’s hope a deal is done.
