Not a transfer but before Xmas Charlton released a winger called Charlie Kirk (26) who they had signed 2 years previously from Crewe for £500k. Charlie Kirk is now a free agent having played 260+ games. Could he be the winger we are looking for? He ticks all the boxes. Good age to still develop, plenty of experience, free transfer, winger, 6'1", great pedigree having come through the Crewe academy. Just seems to have fallen out of favour lately. www.charltonafc.com/news/charlie-kirk-departs-mutual-consenten.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Kirk_(footballer)One stipulation is that he would have to be Captain if he came in.🚀

Apparently signing for Crewe.

Seems sensible. Especially if he was missing the North.

Ross Embleton has signed Ex Orient Connor Wilkinson who has left Motherwell and signed for Colchester Utd. Seems strange as only signed for the Scottish Premier club 6 moths ago, seems a backward move.

This is one window where I wouldn’t be too unhappy with no activity. Certainly not quick activity anyway. I think the squad is good enough for mid table, and nothing we are likely to be able to do this window is likely to make us a play off capable squad.
Best save the money and build again in summer. Or at least wait until the end of the window to see if we have another injury crisis in one position like we did last year, then address that to make sure there’s at least no reduction in squad quality.

RW has made it plain that he would welcome a striker and a right sided winger so although there is no necessity to rush, personally I would hope that if the right opportunity presents itself it would be good if Ling could work the oracle and bring in a couple of players who would improve the squad.

I wonder what type of medical they get if anybody is recruited for a fee. Would they get an MRI scan for instance? making comparisons to buying a used car back in the day. Stories of cut and shut welding on write offs, sawdust in the gearbox, turning the analogue clock back on the mileage. Or you could get a free transfer and the old adage never look a gift horse in the mouth springs to mind.

Unfortunately there are players who have a propensity for injury or a “ weakness” that does not always show up immediately.

Only a rumour but a lot of chatter in Ipswich circles today that El Mizouni has been the subject of transfer bids from Oxford and Barnsley . Both have been turned down apparently but Ipswich are lo9king to recoup some cash having just signed Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis for the rest of the season.

Charlton have had a £500k offer for Clarke-Harris acceded by the Posh. He’s proven at our level and I’d guess he’d want somewhere close to £10k a week to move. How do we compete with that?

Charlton going for it in the January Window. They plan to have some fire power up front. We can in no way compete with them on wages, nor transfer fees. Thats life I guess.

Conor Wilkinson to Colchester Utd. Undisclosed fee. Had a 2-year deal at Motherwell, back down South.

Player still to agree personal terms according to Darren Ferguson Peterborough manager with Charlton. Clarke Harris probably knows what Alfie May is on so he wants parity I guess.
