OMG! Richie is absolutely fuming with our transfer business. Not happy losing turns, we were after a forward and we let turns go back on that basis which he didn't want to happen. We didn't get the player. Drinan was going to sign for Carlisle but they pulled out over his injury record. He was then going to sign for Bradford who also pulled out for the same reason. He spoke to Swindon as he took the blame for 2 of his injuries as he was told by the physio Keats that he was in the red zone and in danger of injury and it happened. He doesn't see Cooper as a new signing as he was already here, but he will start on Tuesday as Beccles has been carrying an injury. The two youngsters have had one day training and will be better for a weeks training. He didn't want them by the sound of it as they are first time loans. Says we are too slow in doing our business, thinks we've had a bad window. Says the club don't think we will go down or up so the purse strings have been tightened up. Sounds like him and ling have had a bust up. I've never seen him so down or so peeed off. www.leytonorient.com/news/2024/february/03/richie-wellens-talks-through-orient-s-victory-over-carlisle-united/

I think RW is really frustrated to lose Dan agyei for the rest of the season just as he was beginning to look the real deal and i think Richie fancied us for a late playoff charge given our recent form.I think we're just a bit too far off the pace for a playoff so can understand the board not pushing the boat out but a fully fit squad next season will scare the life out of this league

Seems like he's said his piece to various people I'm guessing, never seen him that angry. Maybe that's why ling was so cock sure the other day as if to say I'm in charge here sunshine not you.

Understandable from Richie's viewpoint but also from the club's.

We have to keep Richie in the club he is our best hope since we left what is now the championship to get us back there.
I do believe Justin would have done it as well, just sometimes life can be s***.

RW doesn't present a typical reaction of a manager winning today and on a good run of results. I wouldn't say he's angry, more frustrated. He feels he has a chance to make the playoffs. Without Agyei, I don't match that feeling. He's right though in that we do our business slow. I just hope this isn't the start of a crack that a bigger northern club could exploit.

A rare interview of this type from RW. He praises players, his style of motivation and nothing wrong with that. But some of his comments were quite cutting. The word mistake was used. Whose mistake? The loss of Turns an obvious negative. Leaves us vulnerable in the CB area. Obvious. Now Becks carrying a niggle. Great!
his comments about us being slow is no surprise. It’s our way. Jackett said the same. Dither and lose players. Love his honesty over Drinan. Quite a contrast between his opinion of the window and Ling’s. Personally I thought it was Ok until listening to that!
let’s hope he cools down. Not many managers out there as good as him at our level and he would have no problem doing better than Leyton Orient.
And who are those who don’t think the playoffs are possible? Sounds like that’s internally within the club!

People making a lot of fuss out of nothing on this one. Then you need to watch it again and consider it in the context of his usual comments. That wasn’t encouraging for us as a club. Love his honesty.

Love his honesty. Richie is a professional northerner, his comments were open and honest, there's no malice in them. We southern softies tend to be a bit thin skinned in such matters.

Much of my family hail from Leeds so very used to the northern way. Malice? Not at all. Open and honest, absolutely. So when he talks of slow and mistakes it’s a genuine opinion. To be taken seriously.

People making a lot of fuss out of nothing on this one. Nail on head. From the perspective of management making public comments this is far from nothing. Nothing unusual in managers having differences behind the scenes but the one thing that is sacrosanct is the fact that public utterances share a united view. Or don’t make comments at all. This may all die down. Hope it does. But from a management perspective the difference in views coming out of the club is divisive. And that in management terms is not acceptable. What message does that send to the players and the Board. And the fans, though we don’t matter too much. Not a good one.

People making a lot of fuss out of nothing on this one. Nail on head. I disagree. I for one are not making a fuss out of nothing. It actually is a serious lofc management / directorship flaw- my views are stated on the other relevant thread.

People making a lot of fuss out of nothing on this one. Nail on head. I don't think they are, there is a divergence of views on how to operate and what players were needed or required, there's a split there for sure. Hopefully it can be healed and repaired. But RW is more important to this club then ML is. ML's record on managers is very poor and he got lucky on 2 people who came to him and not the other way round, don't forget that point.

RW said preseason that we need 3 good transfer windows to compete for the playoffs. He stated that we have not achieved anything in this window, which is telling.

Very interesting - as its on the club website I guess that the club do not see any of the comments as being too inflammatory, but like a lot of the posters on this thread, I love RW's honesty. Its refreshing to not be subjected to an endless regurgitation of tired cliche's and pat responses from the man at the helm. My view is that on a purely economic level; the club at large - certainly the decision makers, probably deem a tilt at the play off's and a possible surprise emergence into the Championship as being 'too much too soon'. It would certainly be an acceleration of the broader plan and I would question if we are ready financially for it? I would love to see us do it, but reckon we have a finish b/w 7-12, consolidate, look to secure more investment and have a real crack in 24/25....Up the O's!

What makes you say that the two successful permanent managers appointed were down to luck? And conversely the 4 that were unsuccessful weren’t down to bad luck? Was there a difference in the appointment process that I’m not aware of? (genuine question, not being snarky here)

Absolutely nothing to see here. Managers always want more from the owners. All good in the hood.
Bedwetters be getting excited over nothing.
Keep the faith
