Given the latest red card for Richie and the likelihood of a substantial spell on the sidelines for the gaffer, should the club do anything of its own bat to address what is becoming a bit of an issue or are the EFL sanctions sufficient?

Couldn't care a less if we keep winning Could not disagree more. A manager getting red cards is not necessarily any more passionate than a manager who does not. It’s neither an indication of a stronger will to win nor an ability to win. It just means some have more self control than others, something essential in management. An aspect of his character he needs to work on. It’s his job to set an example to the players, especially the younger ones. Is it a surprise that we have one of the worse players records in league 1. This season’s abysmal discipline record just cannot be repeated next season. We need players available.

Nothing to see here. It was harsh, if the ref had done his job correctly then the offence doesn't happen, simple as.
I love his energy, live his enthusiasm and his drive, its all good from me.

Thor, you know better. And the laws of the game. His actions were a straight red. Whether the referee should have penalised the previous action on Sol is open to debate. Opinion, the referee decided no and that’s his job. Such things happen in every game even at kids level. What RW did as a consequence was wrong. Would you condone a reckless dangerous tackle because a player has drive, enthusiasm, passion? Or disagreed with a referees decision and wanted to put it right in his opinion? Or would you tolerate as all good a parent who runs on the pitch to disrupt a game because of his energy and enthusiasm? Maybe it’s ok for kids to take the law into their own hands because they think the referee cocked up? I don’t. RW was wrong. The referees action was exactly within the laws. can expect a 5 match touchline ban based on the 3 last time. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

I’m not going to criticise him for his actions. He’ll take his medicine, reflect and move on, just as we should.

But I hope in his reflection he makes some positive changes. We need him on the touchline driving the players on and making tactical decisions with the other coaches. Not in the stands on a phone. I am hugely critical of some of his actions. He is a leader. He needs to lead and that includes by example, especially to the younger players. Love the guy, we have a great manager, long may that continue. But!

We seem to get a fair amount of yellows, with three (?) reds thrown in. Not many of our players have served bans, the worst that seems to stand out is poor old Brown and I felt he was harshly treated on several occasions. I reckon RW is a bit of a scallywag in the players' view and they probably think,"Here he goes again!" with a bit of eye-rolling.
However, he's better on the bench than in the stands. He should set a better example to everyone including fans, ground staff and others watching. Breaking the law is what it says it is. There's a lot of people out there sticking two fingers up to it already. He can afford to, his status as a manager is on the up. His salary, or his wage demands, will be on the up with his success. It doesn't make it morally acceptable.
On balance I reckon Dohnut is right, though he does use very strong language. My mate and I think RW's behaviour is quite entertaining when we're watching him.

Short fuse this season and now a long ban and large fine awaits.
He was out of his technical area when he got the ball, didn’t give to opposition so delayed play, got pushy with their right back, then complained about the Oxford striker putting Brynn off his kick, then complained the fourth official wasn’t standing in the right place for the sub. Presume some swearing mixed in there.
So it’s not great for a first offense but this being his third?

It does give me a chuckle but this team needs discipline and you have to wonder whether Richie is the guy to fix that. That said, any manager who delivered on every front wouldn't be our manager for long, if at all. I've made my peace with it!

We are now end of Feb and we've had our first suspension? We are hardly crosssing a line. Let's not forget these are new laws, and you get booked for anything and nothing these days.

We are now end of Feb and we've had our first suspension? We are hardly crosssing a line. Let's not forget these are new laws, and you get booked for anything and nothing these days. Not just about bans but about affecting games. The commentators got it right yesterday with examples, like ONeil with an early yellow having to be careful for the rest of the game, Idris pulling out of a tackle because he was on a yellow. Also talk of attacking this or that defender because they are on a yellow and need to avoid the risk of a second. talk of Idris now on 9 having to be careful before the cut-offs to avoid a ban, commentators could be wrong but I don’t think so. They echo my thoughts exactly. All this stuff we know about. Not new, not rocket science. Im sure we’ve said it ourselves. Players on a yellow/accumulating yellows modifying their game. We got away with it yesterday. It is unnecessary especially as many of ours are not for what we accept as “the professional foul* or just a poorly timed tackle but for things that seem plain dum. indiscipline. No other way to describe it. We have a manager hardly in a position to clamp down on it. This stuff is unnecessary and plain dum. Next season we want players playing hard to win games, everybody saying it will be a difficult season. Playing hard and not holding back or being attacked because of yellow cards. A disciplined squad in every way. In a game of small margins this is a self inflicted irritation we need to avoid.

I think you have a valid point dohnut in respect of Wellens maybe finding it difficult to “ clamp down” on players who receive unnecessary yellow cards given his own disciplinary issues.

Perhaps NT might read this thread, take onboard what you have suggested and have a chat to RW !

I think it's nice to see a competitive edge. Sick of getting rolled over and seen as too nice.
I don't think our suspensions have been bad. Apart from Brown just serving his, I can't think of another one.
Getting a caution early on though does sort of affect the game, but at the same time I can't really think of a bad tackle or anything remotely warranting a yellow card all season for both Orient or the opposition. Let alone a red one.

Im in the Mungo ‘couldnt care less’ camp. I couldnt care less.
We’re winning. We are playing some if the best football Ive seen from an Orient team - ever. If the price of that is a passionate manager with a few tantrums then bring it. Give me more.

I struggle with two things here. And accept some may choose to ignore or disagree with. Fine.
For a manager to have true passion he needs to accumulate Red Cards to prove it. That of course is nonsense, it’s not a sign of passion but a lack of self control. Do we believe for 1 second other managers are less passionate because they have not been red carded.
some Supporters cannot understand that the game of a player on a yellow or close to accumulating enough for a ban could suffer. We’ve even seen players substituted on a yellow as a precaution. Evidence right there of cards affecting games. It is wrong to solely assess the impact of a yellow on bans. We all of course know this to be true.
The actions of a leader have impact on the players. This of course is harder to demonstrate. But the clue is in the word Leader. Someone who sets the standards for others to follow.
Deep down I believe many views on the actions of RW are borne, not out of common sense, but a sense of loyalty. I understand that. But I also believe that the true loyalty of leadership and something NT has shown of late is to deal with issues in a positive way with top management. Allowing such things to go unchecked is not showing loyalty, far from it. It is disrespectful to the very person you want to grow.
