It's becoming clearer and clearer by the day Labour is going to cost us a lot of money. Starmer refuses to help first time buyers now, our council tax will be next to get smashed, raid on our pensions is coming for the 2nd time under labour most probably and on it goes. The Tories knocked on my door the other night and I had a 20 min argument with them over the state of what they have presided over. I have voted Tory all my life, but not this time as they don't deserve it. We need another candidate marked None of the Above. Finally Labour might as well have this as their campaign slogan. Work hard, study hard and get a good job so we can redistribute your money to someone who didn't. I’ve voted Labour and Tory in roughly equal numbers. Not a popular view but the Tories have been hugely unlucky (as well as calamitous) at times. Dealing with the mess they inherited, getting Brexit done. Covid, Ukraine, Gaza. We can all have opinions as to how well or badly they have approached the issues, but they have had to deal with them. I doubt Labour would have fared any better. Now there is a glimmer of light, Labour will inherit an improving situation as did Blair. But we will all pay more one way or another under Labour. They are a party that feels better able to spend our money than we are. And they will be creative with how to pick our pockets, as was Brown. Your last line about the Labour Party slogan is spot on.

UK general government gross debt was £2,720.8 billion at the end of Quarter 4 (Oct to Dec) 2023, equivalent to 101.3% of gross domestic product (GDP) The interest on that debt is around £89 billion a year yet talk of spending even more money. The public sector workers have on average far better index linked pensions than the private sector workers and who funds these pensions, well of course the tax payers !

Don't forget money is an illusion created by man! Read up on fractional reserve banking and the con that it is.
So the debt doesn't matter, the government are not going to bankrupt itself as it created it in the first place! What it does do is create debt to you and me, we are then slaves to the system and it has to be repaid and or serviced! So the illusion continues!!

The more the Debt increases the more the government pays of its yearly income which is generated by taxing us. The British government's debt is owned by a wide variety of investors, most notably pension funds. These funds are on deposit, mainly in the form of Treasury bonds at the Bank of England. The pension funds, therefore, have an asset which has to be offset by a liability, or a debt, of the government.

So the option to leave the EU gained the majority in the UK referendum, so are you saying that all who voted to leave the EU are to quote yourself ''in the pocket of Putin'' ?

That is what I understand his point to be. I’m surprised you bothered to respond. He has posted many pro EU remainer comments before, rather grasping at straws with this latest comment. I voted to leave the EU as did many others and am definitely not a lover of Trump or Putin !

I see the Daily Mail is telling their readers how to vote to stop a jellyfish landslide. What an absolute joke.
How about the government of the day look out for the people and winning your votes would be easy. As it stands the tories have let down so many voters it's unreal, for example the red wall voters.
At least the NHS will be in safe hands.

Farage from abroad looked quite full of himself with every answer to every topic and I thought yeah he looks promising
Then I see the recent bbc interview and he was torn apart - was that because had spoken previously about abolishing the bcc in some way ?
Then I heard he was seeking that horrible ex conservative Suella Braverman and I thought no way she was and is a lunatic.
When you watch his last speech at the European Parliament he was scathing about them but I know as he admitted in another interview a while back he was taking his pension from the same parliament he disliked.
I assume when he gets his English MP Salary representing Clacton he will still retain his large European pension. He seems to love money.

''He seems to love money'' In that respect, Farage is much the same as his hero Donald Trump.

I say the BBC should be defunded asap. Too many scandals, too many issues it's time to remove this tax on the people and let's be honest some on here now have to pay for a licence when it would have been free before. What a blood liberty!

Grow up please !

They certainly do not give unbiased views and interviews nowadays, years ago they were far more even handed in their political views.

If Sue Barker does defect to Reform it will be a bad move IMHO The Daily Mail readership are certainly Reform voters but as the Mail is owned as a client media for the Conservatives it is still trying to pretend that enough people will vote tory to stop a Labour landslide

Kbola nothing can stop a labour landslide, the tories don't deserve to form the government.
However, take the tory poll results add in reform and as bad as its been over various matters, Labour would struggle to win. That says as bad as it is, Labour and voters know it will not be good over the lifetime of parliament.
Get ready for a slew of taxes to be increased and raised. The pips are squeaking now, we have not seen a ything yet.
