Ambition is made of sterner stuff than over promising.Three times I bugged him for the Kings lid.

Richie sounds a little frustrated with the lack of signings, raising the negative impact of loan signings and even going as far as to say the first 2 weeks will now be spent on fitness in anticipation for 4/6 players coming in.
Remember in May when everyone from the chairman to Richie talked about getting business done early. Clearly Lingy is still waiting for Amazon to deliver his new coffee maker.

We all know Ling will work the way he has always worked and that is slowly. Neither RW nor NT will change that. But it is important we get the right players and in time for them to get fit and understand the style of play Richie wants. Players will come in, 4 to 6 will be a stretch but not impossible. We have time so no need to get concerned. I’m sure it’s all under control. It’s going to be a tough season and many of our similar sized clubs are beefing up their squads. The announcements will happen. Patience is needed. Good words for Kelman. That’s encouraging.

Not sure you can blame Ling when it’s the club finances that stop us being bold in the market. As Richie says it is frustrating to have to rely on the loan market, as each year you lose your loan players and you have to rebuild the team. Changing to a club that issues 3 year contracts rather than 2 would help, but with Rovers paying 40% more in wages to Ruel than our best paid player, no wonder we are not attracting the best talent in the early days of the window. On the bright side, Kelman is going to be a player according to Richie, who’s pleased to have him back.

Completely agree about 3 year contracts, more clubs seem to be going this way with some even having options of an extra year. I don't think Ling is to blame I just wish he would think outside the box a little more.

Or even similar sized clubs who want to take a punt on a player like Ruel. We all understand that. But we need to compete with those at a similar level to us or we may as well throw in the towel, We apparently have a mid-table budget so should be competitive enough.

If we were hovering above the relegation zone OOG, then quite possibly, but I don’t see that happening. The difference between the talent available to the bigger clubs in our league and those we can afford, is not as great as higher up the pyramid. I firmly believe that in Richie we have a great coach, who can develop players and by doing so bridge that gap, so that we can still compete with the ‘bigger’ teams.

But the bigger teams may also have great coaches. They also have the funds to both buy in talent and speculate on evolving talent. In a game of small margins that little bit of extra quality can make a huge difference. Imagine what RW could do with a bigger budget. But it is wrong for us to expect our owners who have done so very much, to fork out even more.

Will the frustration of the lack of Transfer activity in buying players make RW consider his position, if by Christmas we are hovering over the relegation places? you couldnt blame him top be honest I’m amazed he signed a new 3 year deal. Decent wages no doubt and a genuine fondness for the club and owners. But he could be a Championship Manager with players and a budget to showcase his talents. Not complaining, one of the best managers we’ve had. But it surprised me. He has shown his loyalty and decency in bucket loads. Respect. But agreements are two-way streets and I really hope he gets the 4/6 players he keeps talking about and in time for the decent preseason he talks about. Two loan players to date just doesn’t cut it. We would be stupid to let him down, and the club ain’t stupid. It will happen.

RW by signing his new contract must be very happy with those he deals with and the financial situation that sets the level of any future signings.

RW by signing his new contract must be very happy with those he deals with and the financial situation that sets the level of any future signings. For sure. The question being whether he gets the 4/6 player he still wants and in good time for the decent pre season he wants. And probably discussed during his contract negotiations. Like I said it’s a two way street. He has committed and kept up his end. Hope the Club do the same. I’m sure they will. He would not be saying what he is unless he is confident it will happen.

How would you or I know what the clubs promises are.We are going to be for a few years a middle of the table League 1 club, when and if our financial situation improves it will be a great feat to rise or to keep it that way. This is a great league to be in and at the moment it suits us well.Think how hard we have fought to get into this position and for once let us ALL join in and thank all concerned for where we are.

I think it's the longer term project that RW has bought into which will involve a much larger budget.
Second point being if he does well on a limited budget a championship club will be thinking would could he do with our budget which is considerably larger than Orient's. He is in a win win position.
Third point he ain't getting sacked here so can relax and focus on the bigger picture whilst driving the team forwards without fear or looking over his shoulder every five minutes.

For sure it’s a medium/long term plan. Irrespective of the time scale the plan starts this window and that’s just as important as what we do in January or next June. In fact I’d suggest a good start to the plan is vital. A crappy season and the plan is gone The next few weeks can either launch or delay our progress. We have some decent players but not special when looking at our competition. But we lack depth. It needs to be dealt with and in good time. I remain confident it will be. Give RW what he says he needs. And when he needs it.

Its about the coach's ability to put together an effective TEAM on the pitch and that's what RW is very good at.
