I've just looked at the squad and it would appear we need the following.
Keeper 2 fullbacks one either side or one who can cover both Centre forward
We've currently got 21 signed up so we then go with either 24 or 25 depending on the full back coverage. These next signings are crucial to our success this coming season.

Despite the numbers the squad looks a bit thin to me. The fullback/wing back area is woefully inadequate, square pegs filling the void. Midfield also looks weak when looking at a full, tough season and the two games a week periods. Don’t see much cover at number 9. Unproven and inexperienced cover. What I don’t want to hear next season is a repeat of all the young players suffering with fatigue and the team struggling due to lack of depth.
But we are where we are and with a bit of luck the squad should make mid table despite our opposition at the mid to lower end strengthening. But thus far as a squad we are weaker than last season. We are putting all our eggs in the Graham/Agyie coming back basket and Theo post Christmas.
But players still to arrive. Still time to be pleasantly surprised. But right now it’s been a poor window when looking at the ins and outs.

Hope for a decent centre striker to cover DA. Fear DJ will be the only cover but woefully unfit presently.Perkins not ready needs coaching first.kelman prob only behind never leading striker. One Full back likely to be expected to cover both flanks. midfielder only if moncur goes. Goalie tall and safe hopefully. In short poundshop economics Note all signings so far can play several roles if needed

Whoa whoa and thrice whoa The time has come the end is near
Well the window isn’t closed yet and we haven’t got on the plane, so I’ll reserve my breast beating and keep the hair shirt in the drawer for now.

It worried me that Travis said exciting signings then surprise, surprise, there was a surge in season renewals. The young on here call it bedwetting, but haven't we been here before. This league is stronger we are weaker thus far.

We are all doing that. Waiting to be pleasantly surprised with another couple of signings pre-Spain then another couple after that. It’s not a nice to have but an essential as I see it.

Got my season card in the post today.
Nigel Travis says, ‘Some clubs in this league will have budgets much bigger than ours, so it is vitally important that we squeeze every inch out of what we spend. That can mean being patient, not making rash decisions and trusting our processes. Richie Wellens and Martin Ling continue to work tirelessly on recruitment and I am confident that we will have a very exciting squad in place come the end of the summer transfer window.’
Make of that what you will.

For what it’s worth, my take would be that NT has noticed that a proportion of fans are discontented with the pace of transfer progress and this is a “ calm down” message. Perhaps he should have adopted this line a few weeks back?

Nigel gets a little carried away with the good news stuff on the odd occasion. It comes from a good place so we shouldn't criticise him for it. Frankly, in his position, I'd probably be far worse.

We're fortunate that the club is being run by genuine, decent men with integrity.

Nigel built up the expectations and we signed Kelman who is I fear not good enough, nothing to get excited about I'm afraid. I'm yet to see us "learning from our mistakes in past windows and we have taken on board what Richie has said" again we are slow, insipid and uninspiring. We have failed to learn, and we continue to do the same thing hoping for a different outcome.

Anything being said that hasn't already been said. I have just opened my income tax statement for 23/24.The amount to be paid is staggeringly high.Serves me right I suppose for knocking my cods off for 55 years with just the one holiday in 1973 and almost endless week end work.I am nearly disabled by the work I did and this how i am repaid.Thank you socialism, thank you very much.

As an aside I’m sure every club will try and squeeze every ounce out of their budget whether bigger than ours or not. So having a bigger budget don’t mean clubs will be stupid. They will spend wisely as they see it. Why do we always think we are unique, we are not. Except for being slow.

We do things the orient way,the next cash crisis is round the corner. Three bog standard signings and one of potential is not exciting. We go to Spain for training with trialists and play a silly team that will teach us nothing. We will always see opinions both offensive and defensive as seen on this thread.

Not football but my take on tax is that it is necessary in a civilised society. I’ve never complained about paying only what it’s used for. Tax is a reflection of income for us average people. I’m 75 and my tax is bigger than my state pension, such is a life planning for early retirement.

More to Spain than the game. Apart from the obvious improve fitness, a chance for the team to bond and for the coaches to ensure everyone knows their role/roles when called upon and the system/systems we are likely to use. players who miss out, miss out on a whole lot more than improving fitness. Why it’s important we get our main recruitment done by Saturday.

It happens Red, from the very wealthy who can employ bean counters to minimise their contribution (or live abroad) to the people who don’t report the money they earn. Me! You ain’t the chairman though Fisch! Good as NT is, I don’t think he should be immune from criticism and imho his earlier words have created a rod for poor old Lingy’s back. Just my view.👍
