Well I had to start it.I know it's not exactly about Leyton Orient but it is affecting everyone.
More traffic around Elephant and Castle and Tower Bridge and also more commuters on the trains on the AM...At 4pm it was strangely quiet.Has been more people around today, though.
I do feel we are not being told the whole truth about this and it's been handled badly, obviously.
When we get through this there will be companies and individuals I wont be forgetting about for being total s***s.
721 today up to 12868.
Hopefully instead of clapping these people who are treating the sick perhaps (and fairer hours) we could pay them a decent wage.Clapping does not pay the bills.

Nurses basic pay ranges from £24000 to £73000 per annum. Many have opportunities to earn bonuses and other compensation.
Doctors can earn considerably more. Do you still regard them as being underpaid ?

Doctors pay vaires as well I know.
I thought they did long hours and were short of staff.

It was always going to be bad here due to the huge numbers of mobile people travelling to and from the UK from other countries. London and New York are international cities so are susceptible to diseases coming from abroad. From both residents and visitors.

There maybe a problem with candidates today not wishing to spend their career on the Wards at the sharp end working shifts. Other avenues available today once qualified are to become a specialist Nurse. Especially if the male or female person has a young family. Usually specialist nurses work 8-4 Monday to Friday. Another grade introduced recently are Nursing Associates. This is similar to the old designation of SEN (State enrolled nurse). The Nursing hierarchy are not going to admit they made a mistake in removing the grades SEN and SRN (State registered nurse). The nursing hierarchy raised the qualifications to enter nursing thus blocking candidates that could have been SEN material but not having the academic requirements of the SRN level. The hierarchy also deemed all registered nurses were to be degree qualified going forward. The Govt then decided to withdraw bursaries to Student nurses. Those candidates from poorer backgrounds didn't want to take on a loan to fund their studies.

Thanks osoldguy. Not going to pretend I know anything about this stuff...because I don't.
Just wanted to get a debate going about this subject because obviously it is affecting everyone in so many different ways at the moment.
Wasn't mean't to offend anyone just wanted to hear the different views on this.

Haven't really been out the house for weeks now apart from the shop but I've noticed things are getting busier. We're on the borders of zone 1&2 so pretty central. Busses have people on them now, they haven't for the last few weeks.
Self isolate is a difficult thing to get people to do and I can feel the temptation to just be somewhere different. Not necessarily to do anything, just to do something different.
Boredom started creeping in last Wednesday.
This afternoon / evening I have done absolutely nothing. Nothing at all.
I still have to work, sitting at the kitchen table, missus on the other side of the table, both working, kids running around, go out in the garden, come back in, make lunches, fix their laptops, go back in the garden, more work, fix laptops, talk to missus, have a Teams meeting, year end, go out in the garden. Then finish work. Then go out in the garden, fix laptops, cook dinner, garden, laptops, bed.

I know what you mean Mungo. The wife and I have not been out from our house since 18th March. Fortunately we have two daughters who both live near by and they have kept us supplied with essentials. I potter about in the garden, cleaned the car although it was not dirty, but the last two days I have started watching TV all day ! Need a change of scenery and company and to be with the gran-kids. Next week I have managed to book a click and collect from a supermarket and really looking forward to the trip.

If it’s good enough for Boris and Carrie to drive to Chequers and Stanley Johnson to drive Exmoor and Gove not self isolating why ain’t it good enough for Joe Bloggs in the street

I'm a transport worker.Although I don't class myself as a key worker I've been out there for the last few months working.
Believe me I really didn't want to be out there.

Other countries don’t have international visitors after all, just us. Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore etc are clearly not international cities either.

I’ve now got a lovely garden for April. I’d usually be out in the garden centres at this time but as they’re closed I’ve cleared a patch to grow a mini wildflower meadow and sowed some native meadow seeds that I bought online. I want to do my bit for the butterflies and especially the bees. Having a few problems with the sparrows who want to eat the seeds though.
As we’ve all got at lot of time on our hands I’m taking more of an interest in wildlife and nature. It’ll be interesting when this is all over to see if nature took advantage of lockdown. Also, not so many planes in the sky. The ones you do see flying high up are likely to be cargo flights and a lot of military stuff flying about. I guess their easier to spot now the airports are closed or very quiet.
Oh yes, and while I’m at it I’ve always been sick to death of people crashing into me in supermarkets not looking where they’re going. It’s not happening now. People are going out of their way to avoid collisions. Lockdown does have its benefits. I live in a relatively isolated location away from main roads but I still see groups of cyclists out on the roads and they meet up at the top of the lane blatantly not observing social distancing. Oh well....

No doubt on face chat or whatever it is the young folk are ‘in to’ these days.

Oh well.... You can add biz jets and private helicopters to that, nothing stops them it seems. There's still a sprinkling of commercial flights to and from some far off places for repatriation. My back garden I'm offering up to film makers for an after the apocalypse location. Before Christmas it was home to a fox and her 5 cubs. They weren't much bigger than an adult shoe. Very cute. Mrs fox used to spend all day sleeping on the grass-come jungle next to my dried up pond about 4 or 5 metres from my back door.
