"Always keep a-hold of nurse for fear of finding something worse." - Hilaire Belloc Jeez I’m off to spec-savers. Quickly read that quote and thought it read Hillary Benn.

Point being they have not seen enough of life to form a convicted political opinion and take there lead from academia and social media which is left wing dominated.Never been to work and never had to earn a dollar to live and realise what a government can do to your income and how they spend your money.

Spot on Redshank. Experience has to be earned and quite often that takes years. Us oldies are far less likely to be suckered by a few glitzy soundbites.

As we know, indoctrination not education.Taught to despise older people because they have seen first hand what has happened to the country and because of their love of freedom, they do not like it.

I don't despise old people. Stop playing the victim. I just want to know why you think a 16 year old's say on the future is less legitimate than yours. You won't see it, they will. You won't have to live with the mess you've caused. So far your argument is vaguely "young people are stupid and old people love freedom!" despite the older generations being far more likely to vote in favour of revoking many of those freedoms: of movement, of protest, of reproductive rights, of marrying who you want, of not choking on the atmosphere. There are three generations born since the social and economic policies that set off society's current death spiral. They didn't vote for that. "What happened to the country" is the older generations sold it to the highest bidders and now almost every aspect of public life serves no purpose but to extract as much wealth as possible into the pockets of technocrats and oligarchs. Meanwhile Doh seems to think the elderly are too smart to fall for disinformation despite all evidence to the contrary.

Old people are of course famous for their media literacy, resistance to scams, and having their fingers on the pulse of an evolving technological and cultural landscape. That is a poor thing to say. Shame on you. I’ll bet you my technology knowledge is way beyond yours having spent 40 years as an IT director going through the ranks. Evolving. It’s the older generation who are responsible for much of today’s stuff. I was implementing internet solutions when it first came out and writing apps before the word became fashionable. If you think it’s just the old who fall for scams you are wrong. But what we are talking about is not the technology but all the media crap that you get in the news and TV. Most of us oldies have even mastered the remote control. We have the benefits of listening to the promises and seeing the reality. You can’t buy that experience it needs to be earned. Saying the young don’t have experience is not an insult it’s a fact. For many this will be their first election campaign

When all this techno-babble self-destructs, the literate and numerate shall inherit the earth, or what remains of it.

The older generation and a bit before me were responsible for sending man to the moon and launching Voyagers 1&2 which are still doing a job 15 billion miles away and were launched in the early 70s with a computer hundreds of time less powerful than the chips in todays phones. One day when your life is turned around by politics you will understand what our worry is.Not for ourselves but the future for the children of the country. The whole western world is at a grave turning point.

Just read about the Tories' Compulsory National Service scheme (in their election stuff). Seems to me that would deplete Richie's squad still further considering it's for the young.

Imagine voting the Tories back in again. What would that say to these morons? That they can screw up the county, take us away from our biggest trading parties, renege on their various ‘oven ready’ trade deals and legislature promises, not to mention corruption, lying, 100,000 membership of the insane giving us Truss and now we have the effeminate and ineffectual Sunak, Rwanda where they have sent back one person and they were paid to go, and thats just to name a few. Voting back these ‘born to rule’ morons will mean theyll think they can do literally anything.
Phu k the Tories.
