Let's get this back on track for football and England.
It's going to be really tough on Sunday and we will have to be at our best, resolute in defence and mentally tough. We have to be on the front foot and take the game to the Spanish, if we let them build up steam then it's going to be a very tough ask.
IrishO is right Southgate has been ridiculed and some of it may hold water, but we've had 3 semi finals, 1 final and another to come. We've gone from being also runs to being there or thereabouts in the big games and tournaments. Yesterday in the 2nd half he changed the tactics up 3/4 times and maybe fans don't see that. I'd like to see his subs on earlier than he generally does, but who can argue after the ones he made last night?
He has been loyal to players who have performed not at a level they are capable of, but as a team it's worked. So he's obviously getting it right, it's just the style is not as expansive as fans would like to see and I even said earlier in the thread to go on the attack and play People in their correct positions.
Whatever it is he's saying or doing it's working and we just need it to work one more time please.

That needs to be acknowledged. But until he wins a trophy with England the also-runs tag will stay.

Personally I can't get excited either way - win or lose. The way England and some of the other teams have been playing, static, passing sideways and backwards is so dull. When did one of our lads run at pace at the opposition and take them on? If football had always been played like walking football I'd probably have left it alone.

For me Southgate has turned England squads into teams who care more about their country, than their club sides. They bond together, have each other’s backs and have the passion for their country that was sadly missing in squads in early parts of this century, when arguably we were blessed with even greater talent. I hope the guys can get it over the line Sunday, no easy task against a strong Spain side, but possible if the players step up. After all most pundits would say it’s Spain’s to lose, dangerous sometimes to be the favourite in a two horse race.

Someone will need to do something a bit special to break the deadlock. Who will it be?
