Hardly a stunning rise up the ladder if true. Finished below us last season. Maybe we’ve signed better and got fed up with his antics.

At least we'll be free of this biennial guessing game.

Personally I’d be happy if he agreed a new contract and stayed. But if as reported he found our offer not to his liking then we have two choices, increase the offer or risk him leaving and get compensation. But tbh if he goes, and as yet it remains a rumour, I don’t see a move to the Gas as a step up. Sideways at best. Things will be clearer when we know who is allegedly coming in to replace him. Be better able to judge then.

I think RW has stated that he sees Ruel more as an impact player from the subs bench.Ruel probably wants to be playing and starting games and will probably get more chances at Bristol rovers

Not too sure better pay means a step up. Look at the players who went to Wrexham when they were in the national league. More money for sure but at the time it was hardly a step up moving to the NL.

Sure but you're talking about a bigger club with a bigger budget that finished four places beneath us, not two divisions.

But it’s a reflection of how clubs view him playing in what is probably the most sought after role. He’s going probably because he wants regular starts and never got that with us.

Wanted more money than the club could offer within the pay scale.

Wanted more money than the club could offer within the pay scale. Don’t bode well for the alledged two new strikers coming in then. Tbh I’ve every confidence that if the club was desperate to keep him, money would have been found. Certainly on a par with Gas. The board backs RW should he ask. Not about money but value for money. Seen as an impact player, Ruel at 23 wants regular starts. To get that he needs to move on. Time will tell if we made the right choice.

A few things here.
1) RW probably saw him better as an impact player 2) his agent has been agitating him to move for a while now - look at the video he produced previously, he wants pay back 3) we probably offered him 2 years 4) he got a 3 year contract with an option for a 4th - that’s ambitious
I am not bothered he has left, with the chances he’s had he should have scored 30 last season, he is slow, laborious and how many times does he run into an opposition player who then takes the ball off him like a baby? I do wish him well, but watching them twice last year I was not impressed by BR at all. If anyone should have been given an ultimatum it should have been him as his last two contracts dragged on forever and causes uncertainty, now we are certain we can go on and be a better team without him, of that I’m convinced will happen.
Thanks for everything Ruel, goodbye and good luck.
