do you regret that decision, you would have had a good pension if you did the full service.Ark Royal, what a fabulous name for a ship. Was it the first to go by that name. I believe there was a series of Ark Royals going back through history, this one was commissioned around 1950, its predecessor was from the 1930s but was sunk early on in WW2. "My" Ark Royal never saw action at all and was cut up about 40 years ago. I was supposed to learn about the Sea Vixen fighter planes (they were wooden frames for Pete's sake) but it never happened. Regrets? No, there wasn't much world travel once the empire had gone, what travel there was left saw sailors mostly penniless and not in a position to really enjoy it. I never really 'got' all that saluting and marching about, so much bulls*** to live with. I did 37 years on (what is now) TfL so my final salary pension is waaay higher than any military version.

I know about TFL pensions and perks,my neighbour is a driver on the underground.Used it yesterday, the noise between Wanstead and Leytonstone is at one spot, deafening.Makes my tinnitus worse, especially when there are f.ew people aboard.Could have had both though, pensions that is.

I think military pensions only apply to a minimum of 9 years service, pretty much nothing for shirt termers.

I’ve been watching Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘The Farm’ on Amazon. Absolutely hilarious and well worth watching if you like him.

Tales from the Tube - not a nerdy thing, just quirky looks at London via a series of 5-minute YouTube videos.

Watched Brightburn on Netflix the other night, 18 certificate, plenty of gore, ending was a bit iffy but I think that's because there might be a sequel.
Run, also on Netflix wasn't bad at all also.

Mare of Easttown is great. The Delco accents, including Kate Winslet’s accent, were very well done. It was a great touch to a very real feeling show.

I have seen Pale rider, and all the spag westerns.Don't muck about with niceties in those. Pale Rider is good, but a blatant ripoff of ‘Shane’. See High Plains Drifter. No mucking about.

I know we’re not in Lockdown (at the time of writing) but I couldn’t sleep tonight or last night so started watching Ted Lasso on Apple TV. I’ve heard that it’s received rave reviews but thought it was just going to be another American ‘comedy’, but it’s not. It’s about an American with no experience or knowledge about football flown over to run an English Premier Club.
It’s really rather good and very funny. You don’t have to like football to watch it. I can see myself binge watching this all day. It’s a delightful feel good comedy that actually had me chuckling.
