I’m still spinning almost every day. Still using the videos suggested by Howling. Still don’t feel I’m getting any fitter.

I’m still spinning almost every day. Still using the videos suggested by Howling. Still don’t feel I’m getting any fitter. Yeah, but the difference is I generally get my heart rate up to 150+...(I've been doing 40 mins a day since May 2nd) Don't think I've seen my heart rate go to more than 163...My fitness shows out on the cycle commutes...Don't know what sort of exercise bike you have, but I have an old bike on a roller.I upgraded the bike at the start of this month (took the original one off and replaced)...Much easier to maintain now but only one gear 54x16 gear ratio.I tried 54x14 yesterday but not really any benefit...I've done 298 Miles on turbo trainer this month and by the end of the month I should have also done 304 miles in cycle commutes...

Max heart rate for me is 148 for my age. Rarely hit 150 and only then by accident. I monitor training zones carefully and switch frequently from Fat burn to muscle build. I enjoy the intervals approach in the CRX cycling videos. Occasionally switching to a ride through the alps or that sort of thing when I simply want to work on endurance. Some good stuff on YouTube. My spinner is a Tomahawk. Decent build and wheel weight. No gears but I’m pretty OK with resistance setting, use a heart rate monitor to gauge training effort.

I only have one gear 54x16...
I can manage 40 mins and could do an hour if I was offered a million pounds to do it...
I remember when I first started this I lost two stone in a very short time...The people at work thought I was ill..
Doing the turbo trainer later is not going to be easy as I've been up since 2am and the ride back wasn't easy...It was hot an I was overdressed for it and wind against also..I've done over 500 for the month anyways..

The longest session I do on a frequentish basis is 1 hour. Have done 75+ minutes. Normally 45 minutes. Occasionally I’ll do a quick and dirty 30 minutes, full on. To be honest it’s usually down to my frame of mind. Sometimes I really want to go for it. Other times, guilt makes me do a lazy 45. Definitely a mood trainer. Sometimes it’s a real effort. The better weather don’t help. Have fun later.

I was crap yesterday and really struggled...but the ride back from work was pretty awful today, so I'm more p1553d off and fired up so feel more determined.I had to stop with ten minutes to go yesterday, but I managed to complete...That's the first time that has happened this month but getting up at 2am and going to work makes it harder…

Last two days have been hard...Not sure why but I could be too tired from getting up at 2am/3am and also a headwind back so my legs don't like it much...

Just loved the BBC photo of a cyclist riding past a drop in Covid centre. Wearing his mask👍 One hand on the handlebars 😱 using his mobile phone 🤡
What an absolute plonker.

Definitely. Was at the hospital yesterday and spent ages explaining why I missed calls because I was either at work or just not in a position to answer calls....A lot of the time my phone is in Airplane Mode.
They didn't really seem to understand that not all of us are obsessed by our phones and have to spend all day staring at them.
I've seen quite a few like that...They are a danger to me and others as well on the cycle lanes or wherever.

One just missed me on a narrow pavement as i exited from the station.Head in the air to one side, phone to the ear and one hand on the handle bar not in control. If either of my knees had been hit, that would have immobilised me for a long time. My next orthopedic appointment is December 6th.Struggling to walk 20 yards without serious pain. But no one will walk for me so I just carry on hurting and walking.

The first day of covid lockdown was when I had an appointment which was cancelled. That would have decided what would be done to put right ,that what was wrong with the the knee replacement I had two years earlier.Meanwhile it worsens.A lot worse off than me though,so I know it may never be put right. Constant pain does get you down though.

Constant pain does get you down though. My Brother-in-law had a knee replacement. Don’t know much about them but the cap they put in was too big, or something like that. He suffered a lot of pain, still does. The Hospital offered to fix it. He said no, the first time was enough for him. I’ve had a hip replacement. Done under local anaesthetic, gory noises, and was out of hospital two days later. Never had a problem. But I did learn whilst in hospital that knee jobs are far worse. My knees get sore these days, but I have no desire to get them looked at.

Nothing now ,just grin and bear it.I could go on oxycontin, but I expect that after a new op.Not looking forward to the withdrawal symptoms.Took over a year to get over the last lot going cold turkey.A hideous time and I know I am going to go through it again. I have had both knees done, the first over in three months which encouraged me to have the second. That was a total failure that ruined my life and is the main cause of this awful pain.

It seems like we're in similar boats so l feel for your plight. Currently there's no way I could "grin and bear it" I have chronic and semi-severe neuropathic pain in my leg from damaged spinal column nerves. I'm on tramadol which seems to be the same kind of opiate as oxycontin and l'm my 3rd time of dependency over the last ten years. I've been through cold turkey twice now and certainly not looking forward to a third detox. However, between dependency and pain there is not really a choice. Every so often I cut it back to see if the pain levels have dropped enough for me to start the process, to date, they haven't 😕
