Yes but what he didn't say is bigron was the badboy of the Bethnal Green to Hackney Wick Canal region. We were cheered on as we avenged his many indiscretions and naughty naughty behaviour

Just found out by accident I'm blocked by John Sitton on Twitter even though we have never interacted.
I have a rough idea why, though.

Well if your cycling is as bad as I’ve seen tonight driving through central London I don’t blame him. Bikes without lights, no signals from the cyclists, people just pulling across the front of cars, bikes on pavements, no helmets worn I could go on and on. Then they wonder why they get knocked off their bikes. I didn’t realise it was this bad out there!

I've seen s*** driving constantly and the mobile phone use by speeding drivers.Faulty lights on cars.Drug driving.Smashed up traffic lights and road furniture. It isn't all the cyclists fault. Close passing deliberately.Tailgating.
Not all cyclists are bad and not all drivers are bad. There was no need for him to block me as we have never interacted.
Just showing a bias like many others against cyclists which gives us even more problems than we ever had. I've been cycling since 1976 and never owned a car and I get blamed for the way other cyclists behave.
Cycle helmets are not a legal requirement so that is irrelevant.

Your correct about bad drivers as well, totally agree with you. I was just making an observation on what I saw and was shocked if I’m honest with you.

Sorry had a bit of it on Twitter tonight and sadly the John Sitton thing is the cabbie cyclist thing all over again.
I wear a helmet but not for safety just that I like wearing a helmet. For the first 30+ years of cycling I never wore a helmet.
Did find this article though which seemed more in the line of compensation to do with or not of wearing a helmet how it affects the compensation claim.

About to jump on my bike to go to work.
This is the worst weather for all road users. Pedestrians are the worst, as soon as a bit of rain the blinkers come on and they just run straight across roads, junctions, etc.
My list of dangers to cyclists:
1. Unlicensed Taxis 2. People 3. Bike Hire Cyclists 4. Vans 5. Other Cyclists 6. Bus 7. Taxi 8. Lorry
I've generally found that if you cycle confident (don't be bullied by other road users) but in a passive way (hold back, anticipate, expect the unexpected, no rush), just the same as I would for driving, then for the most part it is safe.
The light jumpers, double parkers, junction blockers are the problem.

Uber should be high on that list. Some of their driving is dam right criminal with what they do. How they either got or keep a licence is beyond me.
Just last night I saw one do a 3 point turn on a blind bend! I saw another do a similar movement and then drive off and he must have not been sure where he was going and just stopped forcing the person behind him to stop for no reason then drove off slow, then stop then speed off. Ridiculous driving.

Pavement parking and badly parked vehicles. Parked on pedestrian crossings. Parking in stupid unthought out places.
I don't really mind pedestrians that much but with all the hype I can see the attitude…yet another red light jumping cyclist when I am not, so I am tarred with the same brush. Mungo is right about other cyclists though and why no lights in the dark I will never know.Madness.

"Watching from the Netherlands, the UK looks like a different universe.
What causes this aggression?
Here in NL drivers are all cyclists too, tomorrow it could be you in the saddle - but surely it's more complex than that?"
A post on Twitter.

There is so much wrong with this Thor.I don't really know where to start. This is not an unusual attitude. Yet another numb nut halfwit infatuated with what cyclists wear.

In my old place of work I had a team in Rotterdam and id be out there often and cycling is an absolute pleasure, everyone does it and never a problem in sight. You can even leave your bike not chained up and come back to it later! Then you have mopeds with a yellow plate i think it was and they can drive in the bike lanes as well as those bikes are limited to 30kph I think it was. Everything moved easy along the road, cars, lorries, cycles and mopeds and no one arguing or getting stressed! They have it right with their cycle lanes we are just starting and or trying to work it out the best way to do it here.

As interesting as this is. The size of Rotterdam is 20% of that of London. the population of Rotterdam is 10% of that of London. Fag packet stuff
Without doing the maths one of the differentials is obviously congestion. Particularly population, 10 million vs 1 million. And of course that discounts the transient visiting motor/people population which I’m willing to bet is significantly bigger in London.
So comparison between the two cities, whilst interesting is unrealistic without taking into consideration a whole bunch of other factors.

That’s a high figure when you look at population. The notion that you can leave you bike unlocked is a myth. Even in Rotterdam.

Being the age I am and the state of my knees I dread the pavement cyclists and e scooters. The cycle shop in New North Road Hainault has move away to larger premises.I was surprised how much it was used, some of the frames cost as much as £5000.

Not all cyclists' behaviour is bad any more than motorists behaviour.
The one difference is that cyclists bad behaviour is recognised and lambasted time and time again whereas motorists bad behaviour is generally accepted.
None of my bikes cost that price. The most I paid in 2015 was £1200 for a Brompton and I reckon that was overpriced.I no longer have it.Gt rid of it recently. The other bike I bought for £750 in 2006 I still have. The rest are cheaper and bought off of eBay mainly.

Disagree totally. Motorists end up in court all the time. My local paper reports a driver getting points and a fine for doing 35 in a 30 and in my neck of the woods cops are regular feature on the A303. Mobile and fixed Number plate recognition systems in places top. It goes on. Drivers are an easy target. The road where I live. One side of the street has a cycle lane. The other has not. Guess which one the cyclists use. The lane is there for visible safety reasons too. No issue with youngsters. Don’t want them on the roads but it’s to/from work people. Can’t be bothered You use cycling videos like me. Dig out one around London and look at the cycling standards. Red light jumping, pavement use at junctions, pulling out without looking. I could go on. Too many cyclists believe the Highway Code don’t apply to them, only the bits they like. Very little accountability. That is the problem
