Imagine how the Scunny fans are feeling this Saturday.Ownership of lower league clubs grounds are probably the main cause of the clubs slow decline into liquidation.Hope someone helps and soon. There don’t appear to be any white knights heading to Scunthorpe. Hard to see why anyone would want to get involved with no stadium, massive debts and two promotions away from the EFL.

Scunthorpe need someone to put in around £10 million with no prospect of ever seeing it again. And that’s just to stay where they are.

That's even worse than I was thinking I don't think Lord Botham will be earning enough from his adverts to relieve aching muscles to sustain his former club.🏏

Lets hope it works well for them with the proviso that they are always behind us in whatever league we play. They first have to get through this season without relegation.

Absolutely. The court deadline was debts being sorted. If they are happy this will be or has been done, then they have nothing to gain and everything to lose by folding the club. The club survives and without another points deduction. And given the team performance against massive odds, they will avoid relegation. Looking better for the fans, staff and players.

The court has now dismissed the winding up petition presented by HMRC. Looks like a corner has been turned.

The court has now dismissed the winding up petition presented by HMRC. Looks like a corner has been turned. If I was a Southend fan I wouldn't be getting too excited. Time and time again Ron Martin has kicked their issues down the road by paying the bills at the 11th hour and the fact that it was a stipulation by the judge that the club changed hands, the announcement about a new owner the day before they were due in court seems somewhat convenient. It really wouldn't surprise me if something happened to scupper the deal, Ron Martin seems to be that bloody minded.

Especially when the courts are involved. Martin isn’t the only player in this deal and my guess is the other parties involved are not mugs. The situation the club and Martin were in, I’ve little doubt solicitors got a legally binding agreement from Martin, no doubt including paying off debts. Some stuff still to be sorted but the deal itself is done unless due diligence unearths a nasty surprise. But I know some shrimpers are being cautious because of his past history. Understandable, he seems a slippery customer.

Southend were booked to play a pre-season game at Billericay today. It was cancelled cos SU can't field a team. It does look like the end now. So sad for them. It seems they may be allowed to recruit to reach 16 players. Whether contract or non-contract I don’t know. To be honest, with players having no clubs Im sure plenty will welcome the opportunity to showcase their skills. No transfer deadline will apply. The NL are in talks with the club. Paying is the issue. They have no money. Even then some players may well play for free just for the opportunity. The supporters club have started a hardship fund for those not paid for several months, though I believe some players have been. An ex-player who owns a gym has put that on offer to the players, to keep fit. As I understand it, if training, there is no insurance cover for the players. Bill not paid. Not quite the end, depends not on the court but the NL who will I’m sure avoid removing then from the league if at all possible. But there are an awful lot of people doing what they can to avoid their demise. I wish them luck. 120 years of history. I believe that the takeover is genuine, my point is that I could see Ron Martin having a change of heart and the whole debacle would rumble on. Am hoping that they've made sure he has no option but to sell the club now.

Good news about Scunny, hope they get back to their own stadium very soon. I hope Southends troubles are over and we get them in the first round of the FA cup if they get through the qualies.
