2 Golds, 2 Silvers and a Bronze for Team GB so far today. And it’s only day three. Off to a great start.

I havent watched a single second. I dont set out to avoid it but it just doesnt grab my attention and force me to watch it by the power of its enchantment. I just find it all a bit meh and I cannot find the strength to watch with admiration whilst ignoring all the nonsense behind the scenes. The commentary its just hyperbolic regurgitation. Give me a nice game of cricket any day and yes that includes the flawed yet entertaining Hundred. It would be boring if we all liked the same things.

Tri-athlon stalled due to water quality. May become a duo-athalon. Don’t understand. The opportunity to measure water quality over a long period has been there. The excuse of recent rain just doesn’t stack up, doubt it’s the first rainfall in Paris.
Embarrassing for the organisers and a real pain for the athletes who have managed their training to peak at the competition. Frustrating for the swimming specialists.
More issues at the tennis where Djokovic vs Nadal was first come first served basis rather than by ticket. Chaos ensued with even some press not being able to get in.

I am not really interested in many of the Olympic events but enjoy watching the 100 Cricket especially the women's matches. Alice Capsey, what a wonderful young player for England and Oval Invincibles and now learning to pace her innings better and bat more consistently and still not yet 20 years old. As to having the Cricket 100 as an Olympic event, nice idea but cant see it happening being as it is not a sport that is played worldwide.

Capsey is a great player, been around for a few years now despite her age. But you are probably right, although cricket is played in a surprisedly large number of countries it’s not played at an elite level (yet) so not much appetite. But then Rugby, Hockey and table tennis amongst others tend to be restricted at elite levels to not many countries. Maybe as a test event. But we get surfing, skateboarding, climbing getting included too. Baseball has been in and out too.

Perhaps including the exciting cricket100 as an Olympic event would encourage more countries to start playing cricket also in the other shorter formats, e.g the 20-20 and one day 50 overs each side ? It would take a long time for spectators in non playing nations to get their heads around as to understanding the rules of cricket.

And don’t bring up cricket’s equivalent of the offside laws, the LBW stuff. Great fun to be had by all.

''And the fielding positions'' Yes talk of ''Square leg, silly mid on, slips, maiden overs and add to that talk of daisy cutters, a yorker, a googly, a bouncer, a slog, plumb lbw, a dolly catch, a batsman ''carrying his bat'' and lastly ....Bowling a beamer !! So many baffling cricket terms to grasp for newcomers to the game of cricket !!

May start to watch a bit when some of the events that interest me start to happen and there is not that many of them !

The finish from Yee was brilliant, as was the way his teammate unselfishly set him up for a medal in the cycling leg of the triathlon. Women’s four finish was sensational, timing things to perfection, with the Dutch boat just running out of steam in the final few metres. Both dramatic sporting moments. Bring it on for today.

Timing the rowing was cutting it fine. Yee too, thought he had blown it at one stage but his finish was incredible. the team are doing well
