What is the fear of appointing an experienced manager all about?
I know this is old ground but 1 of the 4 appointments made have been successful. He was the only one that has galvanized the club from top to bottom, and had us all singing from the same hymn sheet. He was the only manager you've appointed. The rest have been coaches.
Look at the teams gathering at the top of the table. They all have managers in charge and coaches doing the coaching.
Why are you blind to this?
I don't doubt your commitment to the cause and to bring in 3 Championship level players in this window is amazing.
But why not give them a decent manager?
This may come across as a whinge but I honestly can't remember the last time, even when winning, that I enjoyed a game. I can't remember an attack from the last 3 games let alone an attempt on goal.
I'm just struggling to see the logic of recruiting such high calibre players for our level and leaving them without any leadership.
We recruit players from League One and the Championship. Why can't we recruit a manager from that level too?
I'm not saying to log on here and answer these questions but please try to address them next time you do a Q&A.

How long do you give Ross too?
Since he started the players recruited have got better and better and the performances worse and worse.
At what point do you feel that your investment isn't seeing the returns you expect?
We've now dropped below Kent's benchmark of 1.5ppg.
On a PPG basis we're in 11th place in the league.
Is 11th place good enough for the standard of player we have? No it isn't. At the start of the season the board mentioned we had a top 7 budget. Not sure what it is now but we have better players so can only assume it's a top 5 or top 3 budget? Are Morecambe and Cambridge investing more than is? Are Cheltenham and Carlisle?
When do you decide enough is enough. Because I'm sick of watching this same sideways sideways backwards dross that is getting served up. It's bad enough when we play bad and win like against Morecambe but to play bad, boring football and lose is doing little to enhance the club.

We recruit players from league one and the championship. An excellent point. We are out looking for players able to play at a better level, yet have a manager who struggles at this level. Bit like building a race car and putting your doddery dear old aunt Fanny in the driving seat.
Our high league position this season is false, papering over the cracks. I struggle to remember any league game where I’ve thought, we were good. At best we have a good 45 minutes or short spells. And we have had an awful lot of luck. Even today, a loss of 2-0 and we were damned lucky.
But nothing will change. The new players will soon be dragged down to a pitiful level of performance,

I'm not sorry and i am gonna go on about it. www.pscp.tv/DulcetDave/1ypKdBllMZpJWIn this actual video, Martin and Nigel mention that one of the reasons that Fletcher got the sack was that the players looked disinterested, were baffled by the coaching, and were the most disorganised they've seen us play. I refer Nigel and Martin to our performances this season. Any stick in the memory for good reasons? I can't think of any. It's looking like Steve Davis all again. We're so soft. And the set-pieces. Does super-coach Ross actually train us to play like this? Also in this video the talk of higher-level managers not being interested. Absolute b******* Martin. Look at Mansfield, Tranmere, Salford and a few others. Managers are out of work Martin and need to pay bills like the rest of us. I'm not deluded and i understand that Pep can go a few weeks without getting paid so don't belittle us with your nonsense. As Nigel's son told him in this video. You missed out on Derek Adams. Because of bad references. What a joke.

As I’ve said before, much as I would have liked to see Ross to succeed unfortunately he was never the right man for the job - not when he was appointed interim boss after Edinburgh’s death - and certainly not when he took over from Fletcher. For a club and owners that get so much right off the field it amazes me that this blind spot about getting in a manager with a decent track record persists.

Unfortunately the old “ unique culture” card was brought out again and RE got the gig.

For a club and owners that get so much right off the field it amazes me that this blind spot about getting in a manager with a decent track record persists. I just don't understand it. If I could own a club and fund it so that i was able to recruit a higher standard of players than the division that we're in, i would also recruit a manager that had that experience too. That could handle it. How are they so blindsided. I know most will point the finger at Martin Ling for this ongoing debacle, but Nigel and Kent have to step in at some point at say that this Head Coach nonsense isn't working. Martin knows Ross is a good coach. I know Ross is a good coach. Justin knew Ross was a good coach. The players know Ross is a good coach. Everyone on this forum and that forum know that Ross is a good coach. But he's just not a Manager.

I'm deliberately not mentioning the players here because I don't feel they are at fault at all. And I actually think we've got a top 3 squad easily.
Just like when Fletcher got the boot, Ross is asking things of them that they aren't capable of.
So what's the difference now? We've had more than a year of this nonsense now.

Even Dulcet on the TV stream said that Ross was standing there like a defeated man with no idea what to do. Thoroughly dejected as well i'm sure he said.

What was the plan B from Super Coach Ross who has been doing this since he was 6 years old? You'd have thought in 35+ years he'd have worked on a plan B other than the 433 formation.
I hope the board are noticing this inflexibility in our approach and reluctance to change things up. It's limiting us.

I may be wrong but I go back once more to this notion of a “ unique culture” that NT professes is part of the club and that Ross is the poster boy for. It leaves me with the impression that things behind the scenes are too “nice” , too cosy with a reluctance to rattle a few cages and maybe upset some of the sacred cows! After all, look what happened to Fletcher after only four weeks when he tried to shake things up !

For a club and owners that get so much right off the field it amazes me that this blind spot about getting in a manager with a decent track record persists. And that Red is the truth of it. We’d all love Ross to succeed. I’d love to be seeing us playing decent football sometimes. Flirting in or around the playoffs, some hint of better to come in the future even if not this season. But the rubbish rolled out with monotonous regularity is really starting to grate. Our last few games, rock bottom. Nothing. And they are the tip of a rotten iceberg that has been our performances this season. How the hell intelligent businessmen don’t understand the need to put a guy in charge who a) actually wants the job and b) has demonstrated the ability to actually do it. We are paying the price of an absolute shocker of an appointment. We just live in the hope Ross will have a lightbulb moment and actually learn how to do it. In the interim the trash continues. Bring in all the league one capable players you like. Very few will actually deliver on their ability. Still Crawley next. Hope springs eternal.

Trouble is doh even if the joint owners & DoF had a change of heart and RE was removed the odds would be very much on that one of his many assistants would be promoted to replace him. It seems to be the way the club wants to operate.

Looking on the bright side (not easy admittedly), we are in no (immediate) danger of going down, and if we sack Ross now we can make a challenge next season. I don't think the club would promote from within unless they do something totally daft like appointing Jobi.
Another plus, our owners watch this crap as well - and are actually footing the bill.

I'd say it would be infuriating for the investors in this situation because I'm annoyed and I've probably spent about £6-700 this year on season tickets, away and cup streaming, and merchandise. I'm not moaning about the cost. It's a labour of love and I choose to do it and will continue to do it. And in a normal season it'd probably be more. I do and I don't feel sorry for Kent and Nigel. I feel sorry that they've pumped in millions, got everything ticking over well at the club, and getting it moving in the right direction. And then to get served up this rubbish week after week. But then I don't feel sorry for them because they put us in this mess when we all knew what we needed in a manager, and still need in a manager. Ultimately in terms of performances and position they're reaping what they sow.

Sadly, my own support for the technically excellent Ross is wavering. Justin was a talisman, enigmatic and a leader who obtained the level of collective followership from all who worked with him. His people would walk through the proverbial wall for him. This is rare and invaluable, Ross doesn't have it. Neither do most of us but that is what we need to find.

There does seem to be a degree of tolerance to mid table mediocrity at the club that is quite baffling - especially considering the business backgrounds of our two owners.

I'm going back to the part about Ross being a 'good coach' and I'd like a podcast or someone in touch with the club to put this in as a question.
Ross was appointed on the strength of being a good coach. But what does that actually mean? Without being patronising what does a good coach do?
Because at the moment I see no style of play, no tactic, no players improving, no motivation, nobody seems to be up for the fight, there's a lack of effort, there's no cohesion, no order, and no real plan to change things around.
And that hasn't been for the last two defeats, it's been all season and last season too.
So is Ross a good coach?
I'm looking on this forum, the other forum, getting texts all saying that enough is enough. So are we all wrong? What is it that 99% of us can't see?
What would a bad coach be like?
