‘You always own the option of having no opinion. There is never any need to get worked up or to trouble your soul about things you can't control. These things are not asking to be judged by you. Leave them alone.’
Richie will leave one day. The more successful he is the more likely its sooner rather than later. I’d rather he stay but if he leaves he is a legend forever and he can always come back. Once an O…

Once an O… I am a student of Stoicism myself, but I am well aware and have a good laugh at myself because I let the lessons go to embrace football. I choose to be a fan and let myself get carried away with a sport that is fickle by nature and is entirely out of my control. It’s my football philosophy paradox. Haha.

I can only speculate as others have done so I won't bother to repeat.
When the Barnsley job became available, I gave it a couple of days before checking the betting odds for their next manager. RW wasn't on the list which went out as far as 50/1. If he's the favourite now, and it's the bookies job to know, then I fear the worst.
I hope he stays. I like to think he has committment to see out his contract and has a desire to see what we can do with a fully fit squad.
If he does go then I'd like to thank him and wish him the best. I've thoroughly enjoyed having him as our manager.

I think that the silence, which is causing all the speculation is because he has probably had or will have an interview. Until he knows whether he has got the job he has to 'disappear '. If he doesn't get it then he never has to say anything and reappear later

Can you imagine the fans response if they knew he had gone for another job

Not if he doesn't get the job and then expects the fans to sing his praises next season

I posted up the video of Matt Harold and he openly said "hopefully the manager situation gets sorted soon" which is quite a massive statement to make. I never mentioned it in the thread as I wanted to see what others thought of it were? Last night the star man awards were held and Richie didn't turn up. He was there last time out. I am hoping this is not the beginning of the end of his time here as he is up there as the best manager I've seen in my time supporting the club. If he were to go, I'd be gutted and I'd really fear for our place in league 1 next season as I don't have the faith in Ling to find the right person based on his previous manager failures. Both Justin and Richie came to us, we didn't go and find either. Remember without either of those two we'd have been relegated from the National league and we'd have been relegated out of league 2. So it seems that the January window or so it would appears to have really caused more damage than we may have been led to believe. At this stage of our development as a club this is a pivotal moment, lose him and we are in trouble, of that I've no doubt, keep him and get him the players he wants not what ling ships in and let him take us to the next level. Nigel and the board you are well versed in business and business decisions and I accept no one is bigger than any company, but you should always look to keep and develop your top talent and he is top talent of that there is no doubt. Better get pushing that boat out as best you can. These are fearful days. You do come out with some scaremongering stuff at times ! If RW goes he goes ,there’s always someone else waiting . He is a long way from being the best manager even in recent times . His record with other clubs is below average and that’s in the 4th and 3rd divisions .Try not to worry so much and get an early night .

Thanks for posting that. Sounds as if everyone's been getting worked up for no reason.

Eca says how do the bookmakers know? Well precisely! The last few times we have been In the market the early betting and even some of the late betting has been no guide to got the job. Richie has done a good job for us and I would want him to stay, but he isn't a genius. He's a very good manager but he's not perfect. Wellensball is light on goalscoring opportunities, his disciplinary record is poor and he shoots from the hip on occasions when a bit more tact is called for. I suspect that Nigel Travis's people management skills are amply deployed. This has been his fourth season in League One and on every previous occasion the club he was associated with got relegated- there has been far more to Orient's relative success this season than the Richie effect. His absence from the Starman dinner is unexplained. Whether he's considering his future or not there must have been extenuating circumstances because I can't conceive of a situation in which a leader would not have wanted to be there- so let's assume there were other matters that kept Richie away and hope it's nothing serious. I intend to await developments. . Bang on. Perhaps there's a young new manager waiting in the wings with a new set of ideas. I've been a big fan of Ritchie, but if he doesn't want to stay then Good bye it is. I shall put my trust in the new man. The new manager will have some good players to work with. Inevitably some will go to Barnsley (or wherever Ritchie goes). New players will come in. We move on. Orient is our focus, not Ritchie Wellens.

Faith1234 on the other board says his mate works in the ticket office and it’s a done deal. I hope he’s on a wind up.

Could be a catastrophe, could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe we get in someone who can coach set pieces and a more fluid attack.
Richie will be a hard act to follow but he's not irreplaceable. I look forward to us beating whichever team he manages next.
